Pure and healthy cat and dog food is Yarrah’s primary priority. This is why our food is organic and free of questionable additives such as hormones and antibiotics. We are also constantly working to optimise our quality and comply with the strictest possible requirements for organic products, animal welfare and food safety. The certificates below provide the proof:
European organic quality mark
Did you know that ‘organic’ is a protected term? EU legislation precisely stipulates the requirements that organic food and agriculture must satisfy. If a product complies with this legislation, then it can carry the European organic symbol. In the Netherlands the inspection is done by SKAL, the Dutch independent organization responsible for auditing organic companies. Yarrah is certified by SKAL to use the European organic symbol.
EKO quality mark
The EKO quality mark foundation is an independent private foundation in the Netherlands, with the aim of developing activities that improve the organic quality of products. The EKO quality mark guarantees the organic background of the product that bears it.
AB logo and Bio-Siegel
Different rules apply in different countries and every country can have one or more certification bodies. For the French market, Yarrah has obtained the AB logo. In Germany, we opted for the extremely well-known Bio-Siegel symbol.
Animal welfare certificates
Better Life Quality Mark
Animal welfare is Yarrah’s highest priority. Chicken, turkey and fish are central in our premium animal feed. We refuse to work with fattened chickens and meat from factory farms, as we believe animals should be treated with respect. This philosophy earned us the Better Life Quality Seal from the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals, with the maximum three-star rating!
No lab animals
We are not willing to run tests on animals. We offer our products to our own and other owners’ pets at home. If the cats or dogs enjoy their new treats and it truly adds something to our product range, then we bring the new product to market. Yarrah is therefore recognised and certified by the Dutch Society for the Replacement of Animal Testing (Vereniging Dierproefvrij).
MSC quality mark
In Yarrah’s opinion, legislation in the field of organic fish farming does not go far enough to protect animal welfare. For this reason, Yarrah switched to MSC fish in February 2011. You can check our certificate here.
Vegetarian and vegan certificates
All products in Yarrah’s Vega line are certified as vegetarian. Next to that, our Vega dog biscuits are also certified as vegan.
Yarrah’s vegetarian products have been certified by The Vegetarian Society. Our products fully comply with the guidelines set by The Vegetarian Society and are 100% vegetarian. The Vegetarian Society, founded in 1847, is an independent organisation and the oldest vegetarian organisation in the world.
Vegan Society & EVU
Yarrah’s vegan biscuits for dogs have been certified by The Vegan Society. Founded in 1944, The Vegan Society gives advice on how to live without animal products. Our vegetarian and vegan products have also been certified by the European Vegetarian Union.
Food safety certificates
Our ISO 22000 certification proves three things: Our food-safety standards are extremely high. Our suppliers are reliable. Our quality-management system is fully effective. (Based on ISO 9001, in case you were wondering!)
Social & environmental certificates
B Corp Certification measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance. It evaluates how the company’s operations and business model impact the workers, community, environment, and customers. Having a B Corp Certification proves our business is meeting the highest standards of verified performance. Yarrah is B Corp certified since July 2019.
