‘Crude’ in the declaration on the label refers to the total quantity of protein, fat, cellulose and ash derived from all raw materials in the food. Crude ash refers to the total amount of minerals remaining after food is burned in your pet’s body. This is the proportion of the food that can’t be digested. So it has nothing to do with what you would normally think of as ash.
