Green Friday at Yarrah: no discount, but a promise
No flashy discounts or impulse buys. Instead, a conscious choice to give something back to nature. From November 24 to December 1, we donated one tree to Trees for All for every order placed in our webshop. Not a promotion, but a promise. The result? 250 new trees. 🌱
Because for us, Green Friday isn’t a campaign – it’s an invitation. An invitation to do better, together – for all animals, and for the world we live in.
Why trees? And why Trees for All?
Trees are essential to a healthy planet. They store COâ‚‚, release oxygen, provide vital habitats for countless species, and help maintain fertile soils.
Trees for All is a certified foundation that plants trees around the world and restores existing forests. They do this in a way that supports biodiversity and empowers local communities – from the Netherlands to Uganda. Their projects contribute to a healthier climate, more space for wildlife, and better soil. And that aligns perfectly with our mission: to care for your pet’s health and the future of our planet.
Not shopping – but planting. With our own hands.
On Green Friday, our colleagues Adriëtte and Carlijn joined Yarrah in planting trees in the Groene Woud (Green Forest) in the Dutch region of Brabant. This area is home to rare clay-rich forests, which play an important role in boosting biodiversity and providing habitat for countless plants and animals.
Here’s Adriëtte’s story:
Friday, November 28 – while shopping malls were buzzing, two buses filled with eager volunteers arrived at Boxtel station. Their mission: to give back to the Earth, under the motto “don’t shop, plant.”
Guided by the passionate team from Trees for All, we learned how to properly plant young saplings. After a warm cup of coffee or tea, it was time to get our hands dirty. In pairs, armed with spades and tiny branches with roots – not much more than twigs with potential.
Digging into the heavy clay soil of Brabant wasn’t easy, but we got the hang of it quickly. A few hours later, hundreds of trees of various species were in the ground. Minds cleared, hearts full. Call it mindful planting.
Our boots and clothes were covered in mud – but that’s what washing machines are for. The goal was 3,000 trees. Thanks to everyone’s effort, we planted around 2,000. The rest will follow soon. Now let’s hope they take root and grow into a new forest on the edge of Boxtel.
It gave us a deep sense of fulfilment – something you won’t find in any shopping cart. And let’s be honest: planting just feels better than buying.
ARK Rewilding Netherlands
Trees for All partnered on this project with ARK Rewilding Netherlands – an organisation focused on creating wild nature and restoring ecosystems to their original state.
In the Netherlands, ARK Rewilding works to reconnect nature areas by planting native forests and letting them develop naturally. It’s all about trusting nature – and giving it time. Rewilding means letting nature be nature again: wild, resilient and balanced.
A Green Friday to remember
Our Green Friday was more than just an initiative. It was a moment of connection – with each other, with the Earth, and with all living beings. With our hands in the soil, we were reminded once again why we do what we do: to help build a healthy world, now and for the future.
We’re proud to have contributed. To not only talk about sustainability – but to live it. And this is just the beginning. We look forward to many more inspiring initiatives. Because together, step by step, we can make a real difference.
